Mission Santa Clara De Asis

Introduction

Picture
The name of my mission is Santa Clara De Asis .It was founded January 12, 1777, as the eighth mission in the growing chain of Franciscan settlements. The person who started my mission was Father Junipero Serra. The mission Santa Clara De Asis is located in Santa Clara,California. The mission, along with many others, were built because the Spanish wanted to make sure that everyone knew the land in California belonged to them. They also used the mission to convert the American Indians to their religon, Roman Catholicisum, and their European way of life. It was mainly the American Indians that built the missions in California and in exchange for doing so they were given food, shelter, and clothing, not knowing that their own traditions, religon, and beliefs would be taken from them.
